As the 137th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, draws close, Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou City of south China's Guangdong Province has seen a surge of inbound passengers.

The fair is slated to open in three phases from April 15 to May 5.

It will have an exhibition area of 1.55 million square meters, with the import section taking up about 30,000 square meters.

A total of 55 exhibition zones will be set up at the fair, which is expected to attract global enterprises from 50 countries and regions.

Many overseas exhibitors have arrived in Guangzhou two days from the opening.

Based on the estimation of the Baiyun border inspection station, from Wednesday to Saturday, the daily passenger flow of Baiyun Airport port reached 46,000, a year-on-year increase of over 26 percent.

The figure is expected to grow further when the Canton Fair opens, with the number of international flights exceeding 300 per day.

The Baiyun border inspection station has improved its customs clearance procedure to cope with the passenger peak.

"We've added inspection counters dynamically, made flexible adjustments on channel layout, and classified and diverted passenger flows to achieve dispersal based on passenger volume with faster speed and enhanced efficiency. Special border inspection channels for the Canton Fair also opened. We've set up multilingual teams, covering 13 languages such as French, Arabic, and Thai, to provide foreign language services as well," said Xu Ling, vice-captain of the Baiyun border inspection station's No.18 team.

China has issued a trial guideline on the ethics review and service of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said on Friday.

The guideline, jointly issued by 10 government departments, including the ministry, calls for efforts to support technological innovation in AI ethics review and to strengthen the use of technical measures to prevent AI-related ethical risks.

The guideline clarifies that the review should focus on human well-being, fairness and justice, and controllability and trustworthiness.

It also details issues that should be addressed in the review, such as the selection criteria for training data, the rationality of the algorithm, model and system design, and measures to prevent bias, discrimination and algorithmic exploitation.

The guideline also calls for promoting the orderly open-sourcing of high-quality datasets for AI ethics review, strengthening the development of general risk management, assessment and auditing tools, and exploring risk assessment based on application scenarios.

It also encourages the promotion of AI products and services that comply with scientific and technological ethics, and the protection of intellectual property rights in AI ethics review technologies.
