The Vietnamese-language edition of "The Classic Quotes by Xi Jinping", a multilingual program produced by China Media Group (CMG), began airing on media outlets of Vietnam from Monday.

The show selects words from ancient Chinese works and classics quoted by Xi in his speeches, articles and remarks, showcasing his outstanding political wisdom, profound cultural literacy and an extensive view of history and world.

The release comes as Chinese President Xi Jinping pays a state visit to the country at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong.

Multiple local mainstream media outlets, including the Vietnam Television and the Ho Chi Minh City Television, broadcast the program.

Tien Phong, a Vietnamese daily newspaper published by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and its official website published articles earlier on Sunday to introduce the program in the country.

Multiple local mainstream media outlets, including the Vietnam News Agency, Vietnam Pictorial's Chinese website, Vietnam Time Magazine also covered the airing.

A cultural exchange event celebrating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam was also held in Hanoi on Monday.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent a congratulatory letter, offering his best wishes on the program's launch and the success of the event.

He said that over the past 75 years, the Vietnam-China relationship has continued to deepen and thrive, bringing tangible benefit to the peoples of both countries.

As the mainstream media of the two countries, both the Vietnam Television and the CMG have excellently fulfilled their duties of disseminating true information, promoting people-to-people friendship and demonstrating their respective cultural values, said Pham Minh Chinh.

Noting that 2025 marks the "Vietnam-China People-to-People Exchange Year", he expressed his hope that both the Vietnam Television and the CMG will promote the building of a strategic Vietnam-China community with a shared future.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the CMG and the Vietnam Television also unveiled a series of joint media projects aimed at consolidating and promoting China-Vietnam friendship.

Thailand has temporarily closed more than 1,000 schools in border areas following a new round of armed clashes between Thai and Cambodian troops along their shared border.

The Thai Ministry of Education ordered the suspension of classes on Friday in seven provinces bordering Cambodia, affecting a total of 1,060 schools, to ensure the safety of students and teachers.

Buriram Province is among the areas most affected by the renewed fighting, with more than 100 schools shut down. At local shelters, displaced residents, including children and teenagers, have sought refuge as fighting continues.

One girl said she had stayed in the shelter for 11-12 days already. "I moved here because of the clashes between Thailand and Cambodia," she said, adding that she could hear very loud gunfire at her home.

She said school won't be open until the clashes end, and she misses her classmates very much.

A teenage boy in the shelter expressed the same emotions.

"It's been 13 days since I moved here. I heard gunfires at home and I was so scared that I moved to the shelter. I want to return to school to study and see my friends," he said.

A displaced woman recalled her time in a shelter when border clashes between the two countries broke out earlier this year.

"I stayed in the shelter for a week when the last clashes broke out. This time I don't know how long I need to stay here before I can return home," she said.

Border clashes between the two sides reignited on Dec 7, less than two months after the two sides signed a joint peace declaration, with both sides trading the blame for instigating the attacks.
