China is willing to further reinforce the positive momentum in the development of military relations with Russia, said Jiang Bin, a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense, at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 9 attended a grand parade at the Red Square in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War (1941-1945). The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Guard of Honor squad, comprising 119 officers and soldiers, also participated in the grand parade. "This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victories of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, and the World Anti-Fascist War. At this special moment of historical importance, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia at its invitation and attended the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War. During the visit, Xi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The two leaders had an in-depth exchange of views on China-Russia relations as well as major international and regional issues. They reached a unanimous agreement to unswervingly deepen strategic cooperation and promote the stable, healthy, and high-quality development of bilateral ties. During the visit, a PLA Guard of Honor unit participated in the grand parade at Red Square in Moscow, which drew widespread attention and was warmly welcomed," Jiang said.

"In recent years, the relations between the Chinese and Russian armed forces have advanced at a high level, with continued deepening of high-level exchanges, joint strategic air patrols, joint maritime exercises, and mutual support in holding major commemorative events. The Chinese armed forces are willing to work with the Russian side, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, to further deepen strategic mutual trust, strengthen strategic communication, expand pragmatic cooperation, continuously enhance the good development momentum of relations between the two militaries, enrich the connotation of China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era, and play an important role in maintaining and strengthening global strategic stability," he said.
