Variety, a leading U.S. entertainment industry media company, has highlighted the fourth consecutive appearance of the China Film Pavilion at the Cannes International Film Festival this year, publishing an article about the pavilion on its website on Thursday.
Titled "Marking fourth consecutive year at Cannes, China Film Pavilion 'showcases vitality and dynamism' of Chinese films", the article noted a significant increase in the number of visitors and buyers at the prestigious film festival who are interested in Chinese films compared with last year.
"Numerous international buyers showed keen interest in the overseas distribution rights of the showcased Chinese films, and many international filmmakers visited the booth to make inquiries and engage in negotiations," the article reported.
Organized by the China Film Co-Production Corporation under the guidance of the National Film Administration, the China Film Pavilion showcases China's growing role in global cinema through promotional events, business exchanges, and cross-cultural collaborations.
The Variety article reported that this year's pavilion brought together over 60 Chinese film companies and institutions, and that over 180 Chinese films, including "Ne Zha 2," "Detective Chinatown 1900," "Creation of the Gods II: Demon Force," were showcased this May, garnering widespread attention from the industry.
Beyond film screenings, the China Film Co-Production Corporation also held a special showcase of major upcoming titles.
The 78th Cannes International Film Festival runs from May 13 till 24.
