Siemens President and CEO Roland Busch is strengthening the company's roots in China, lauding its dynamic business environment and dedicated workforce while pledging to seize even greater market opportunities.
Siemens has been operating in China for over 150 years with the original partnership starting in the 1870s. With 30,000 employees working in China, the German tech giant is deeply rooted in the Chinese market.
In an exclusive interview with China Central Television (CCTV), broadcast on Friday, Busch pointed out that as China is intensifying efforts to construct a technology-driven economy, Siemens is also digitalizing its products to better serve its clients.
"So here comes a very interesting element of this development. Number one is all about really deploying technology. Technology, which is automating, it's digitalizing, it's helping very much to really keep the momentum in the China's marking up, to keep their growth expectations on that high level. This is the reason why we launched our Siemens Xcelerator platform, which is an open platform which allows to sell our products digitally," he said. Siemens Xcelerator, which was launched at the 2022 edition of the China International Import Expo, can help companies produce more efficiently and the platform works hand in hand with China's efforts to promote digitalization of the country's small and medium-sized companies.
"And this helps companies to accelerate their development time, develop better products, but also leverage this technology in the manufacturing space, we can drive productivity, reduce your footprint, also your energy consumption. Since this technology we want to spread it to many companies, also smaller ones, we are building an ecosystem of integration companies so they help deploy the technology on this floor, if the companies don't have the capabilities," he said.
Busch stressed that he has never considered withdrawing from the Chinese market, even in the face of immense pressure on the company. He elaborated on the reasons behind the company's deep-rooted presence in the Chinese market.
"Number one, it's one of our largest markets. And number two, it's developing into the most innovative market, so you have to play there in order to stay competitive. Last but not the least, it's the people. It's amazing. The people which we have here in the company, their passion, their dedication, but also their competence in developed products in absolute super fast speed. That's amazing. Why wouldn't I not tap on this potential," he said.
