China remains committed to resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, and supports Iran in maintaining dialogue and negotiations with all relevant parties, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.
Lin made the remarks in response to a media query about the Iranian nuclear issue.
"China has always advocated resolving the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means, and supports Iran in maintaining dialogue and negotiations with all relevant parties and working towards a solution that addresses the legitimate concerns of all sides," Lin said.
"China stands ready to continue communication and coordination with relevant parties, and play a constructive role in promoting a political and diplomatic resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue, so as to effectively safeguard the international nuclear non-proliferation regime, and promote peace and stability in the Middle East," Lin added.
Iran and the United States have held five rounds of Oman-mediated indirect talks -- three in Muscat and two in Rome -- since April on Tehran's nuclear program and the lifting of U.S. sanctions.
The sixth round of indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will take place in the Omani capital Muscat on Sunday, said Iran's Foreign Ministry early Tuesday.
