Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday called on entrepreneurs to assume their important role as organizers of production and operation and drivers of social progress, add new dimensions to entrepreneurship and contribute more to global economic and trade development.

Li delivered a keynote speech at the opening plenary of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions of the World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as the Summer Davos, in north China's Tianjin Municipality.

"The new era requires entrepreneurs to play bigger roles, assume greater responsibilities and add more new dimensions to entrepreneurship. I encourage you to do more things for the greater good. I hope you will always follow the laws of the market, do what is right, champion openness and cooperation, uphold economic globalization, oppose decoupling and severing of supply chains," Li said, calling on all sides not to turn trade into a political or security issue.

The Chinese premier called for respect and support for entrepreneurs when today's world economy grapples with rising uncertainty and urgently needs a way out and forward.

He expressed the hope that this group of people with exceptional talent can blaze new trails for economic and social development.

"I encourage you to do more things to break new grounds. I hope you will seize the opportunities of the new round of tech revolution and industrial transformation, break free from temporary difficulties or obstacles, consolidate innovation resources in a broader scope with a long-term perspective and unlock new promising areas in economic growth. I encourage you to do more things for win-win results. I wish you will embrace each other's development with an open and inclusive mind, share resources, draw on each other's strengths, promote market integration and mutual empowerment, and achieve common growth," he said.

The Chinese government will continue to foster a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized, and always keep the doors wide open and warmly welcome businesses from all countries to invest and deepen their roots in China, Li said.

With the theme "Entrepreneurship for a New Era", the Summer Davos is held from Tuesday to Thursday, gathering over 1,700 leading figures from more than 90 countries and regions to explore how entrepreneurship and emerging technologies can unlock more dynamic and resilient economies.

An Algerian expert and a Uruguayan official criticized Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi for her wrongful remarks that exposed Japan's ambitions for military expansion, which is endangering regional and international order.

At a Diet meeting in early November, Takaichi claimed that the Chinese central authorities' "use of force on Taiwan" could constitute a "survival-threatening situation" for Japan and implied the possibility of armed intervention in the Taiwan Strait, which drew strong criticism worldwide.

Smail Debeche, president of Algeria-China Friendship Association, said Japan should end its attempts to expand military power as it did during World War II.

"I think the wrongful remarks made by the Japanese side are not in the interests of Japan itself and the Japanese people. It is irrational and illogical to make such statements. After World War II, Japan should have shouldered its corresponding responsibilities and obligations. However, instead of deeply deploring its war past and earnestly apologizing, Japan seems to be trying to expand its military power in the region and display arrogance, much like in the wartime era. This practice must be stopped," said Debeche.

Leonardo Batalla, who is responsible for international relations at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, said he firmly opposes the interference in China's internal affairs. "Japan's remarks are a provocative act. Japan is a defeated country in World War II. Now, its right-wing forces are attempting to revive the ambitions of the militarist era. Such an approach is detrimental to international relations because it interferes in China's internal affairs," said Batalla.
