The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, a cross-sea passage that connects three major cities in south China's Guangdong Province, has enabled the region's enterprises to coordinate their cooperation better and deploy their manufacturing more flexibly, achieving higher production efficiency since its operation began one year ago.

The critical link connects Shenzhen, Zhongshan, and Guangzhou. It has reduced the travel time by car between Shenzhen and Zhongshan from over two hours to less than 30 minutes. Currently, reaching Qianhai in Shenzhen or downtown Zhongshan from the Nansha District in Guangzhou via the link takes approximately 20 minutes and 15 minutes, respectively.

The enhanced travel efficiency serves as an example of the effort to strengthen integration among major cities in Guangdong, and the cross-sea passage helps enterprises in the region deploy their businesses more flexibly, thereby enhancing their operational efficiency.

The latest data showed last year, Zhongshan received a net inflow of 168 enterprises from Shenzhen, marking a year-on-year increase of over 200 percent.

"Since the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link started operation, Shenzhen and Zhongshan have been enjoying increasingly integrated development. We relocated our manufacturing bases to Zhongshan and left only the headquarters in Shenzhen. By redistributing our business, we hold stronger confidence in our future development," said Liao Lei, general manager of an electronic instruments and equipment company.

Industries in the regions along the major transportation link have also been thriving. A comprehensive industrial line, encompassing sectors such as raw material transportation, manufacturing, and packaging of chips, has been developed in Guangzhou's Wanqingsha Town, situated adjacent to the exit of a branch of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.

Last year, the chip-making companies in the town achieved an output value of approximately six billion yuan (over 840 million U.S. dollars), marking an annual growth rate of more than 30 percent.

"Since the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was put into operation, we have been communicating and cooperating more efficiently with our customers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Assisted by the platforms provided by the government, the enterprises up and down the industrial lines can unleash their respective advantages by forming industrial clusters," said Xu Zhijun, marketing director of a semiconductor company based in Wanqingsha Town.

Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez said on Sunday that the country is at a critical stage and must achieve national unity, emphasizing that maintaining internal cohesion is of utmost importance.

In a televised address, Rodriguez called on the public to continue trusting the government under the current highly complex political circumstances.

Her statement comes in the wake of a January 3 military operation conducted by the United States, during which Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were taken into custody and flown out of the country.

The operation resulted in at least 100 fatalities.

Rodriguez, who was sworn in as acting president two days later on January 5, framed her appeal for unity against this backdrop of external intervention.

Meanwhile, Venezuelan Minister of Communication and Information Freddy Nanez denounced the U.S. actions as a "war crime of the 21st century" when speaking at an international cultural event on Sunday.

Nanez condemned not only the January 3 airstrikes but also the associated cyber and electromagnetic attacks.

He accused the United States of violating international law through the forced removal of President Maduro and his wife, while attacks on civilian infrastructure, including medical facilities, represent a flagrant breach of humanitarian norms.

He reiterated that the stigmatization and military attacks against Venezuela are driven by economic interests, particularly the desire to control its abundant natural resources.
