China will continue pursuing a friendly foreign policy toward all Afghan people and support exchanges and cooperation between the two nations across various fields, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
"First of all, China welcomes the latest developments in relations between Russia and the interim government of Afghanistan. As a traditional friendly neighbor of Afghanistan, China always believes that Afghanistan should not be excluded from the international community. China supports the international community to increase engagement and dialogue with the Afghan interim government, and encourages the Afghan side to actively respond to the concerns of the international community. The international community should work together to assist Afghanistan in reconstruction and development, and support the country's efforts to combat terrorist and extremist forces, thereby contributing positively to regional peace, stability, and prosperity," said Mao.
"No matter how the situation evolves inside or outside Afghanistan, China's diplomatic relations with Afghanistan have never been interrupted. Since the establishment of Afghanistan's interim government, the diplomatic missions of both countries have maintained normal operations, playing a positive role in promoting bilateral relations. China will continue pursuing a friendly foreign policy towards all Afghan people, and support exchanges and cooperation between the two nations across various fields," she added.
