Typhoon Danas makes landfall in China's Taiwan

Typhoon Danas -- the fourth typhoon of the year according to China's meteorological authorities -- made landfall in Chiayi County of China's Taiwan at 23:40 on Sunday.

The typhoon brought strong winds and heavy rain to Tainan City early Monday morning.

As Danas approached on Sunday, Taiwan experienced heavy rainfall, which caused power outages affecting more than 1,000 households in Kaohsiung City and 15 households in Chiayi County, as well as a mudslide in Taitung County.

China launched a Long March-8A carrier rocket on Friday in the southern island province of Hainan, sending a new group of internet satellites into space.

The rocket lifted off at 03:48 from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site.

It successfully placed the payloads, the 20th group of low-orbit internet satellites, into preset orbit.
