Russian on Tuesday continued its strike on Ukrainian military facilities, while Ukraine on the same day downed 178 Russian drones.
According to the daily briefing of the Russia's Defense Ministry, its forces had struck Ukrainian positions across Sumy, Kharkiv and Donetsk regions over the past 24 hours, destroying several electronic warfare stations, radar installations and ammunition depots.
Russian air defense units intercepted seven Ukrainian guided bombs, one HIMARS rocket and 103 fixed-wing drones during the same period, the ministry said.
On the same day, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a battle report that their forces had struck 11 Russian troop and equipment concentrations over the past day.
Ukraine's Air Force reported shooting down 178 of 267 Russian-launched drones since 16:30 on Monday.
Ukraine's parliament on Tuesday voted to extend martial law and mobilization until November 5, and temporarily suspend the country's participation in the Ottawa Convention, an international treaty that prohibits the use of anti-personnel landmines.
Ukrainian officials argued that this temporary measure addresses battlefield asymmetries since Russia has never joined the treaty.
Ukrainian security forces on Tuesday announced the arrest of six alleged Russian agents plotting attacks on military targets.
Meanwhile, diplomatic tensions have flared after U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a 50-day ultimatum for peace talks, threatening severe tariffs otherwise.
Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov immediately rejected what he called "unacceptable" demands, though he reiterated Russia's openness to negotiations.
Trump later appeared to backtrack, saying that Ukraine shouldn't target Moscow and the United States wouldn't provide long-range missiles, contradicting earlier reports of him encouraging deeper strikes into Russia.
At the end of the working day on Tuesday, the European Union (EU) failed to approve a new round of sanctions against Russia as the move was blocked by Slovakia over concerns related to energy security, according to EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.
The discussion has been postponed to Wednesday as divisions persist among member states.
