Heavy rains brought by Typhoon Wipha have caused widespread disruption across southeast coastal areas in China, with Fujian Province experiencing severe flooding and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region facing urban hazards from fallen trees.

In Xiapu County, Ningde City of Fujian, continuous downpours since Monday triggered multiple landslides, with a 25-meter-long road section virtually collapsing on a newly built route to a local scenic area. Repair efforts are hindered by the ongoing rainfall and falling rocks, and the area remains under temporary closure, according to local authorities.

The emergency floodwater discharges from nine medium-sized reservoirs were initiated after the water level on the Xixi Reservoir in the county exceeded the warning line. As of 17:00 on Monday, Ningde's 25 major reservoirs had accumulated 1.412 billion cubic meters of water, with meteorologists warning of further heavy rainfall through Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in Qinzhou City of Guangxi, typhoon-force winds toppled over 20 roadside trees across major thoroughfares. Municipal crews worked through the night to remove debris and reinforce remaining vegetation. They had also carried out comprehensive safety inspections across flood-prone zones and outdoor facilities. As of Tuesday morning, all affected roadways had been fully cleared.

Both regions remain on high alert as the impact brought by Wipha lingers, with forecasters predicting additional rainfall through Wednesday.

Both sides stressed that China and Russia, as major countries and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, will shoulder their shared responsibility to safeguard world peace and security, and uphold historical truth and international justice," said the spokesman.
