China's logistics sector maintained expansion momentum in July amid adverse weather factors such as local floods and continuous high temperatures, China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing said Tuesday.
The prosperity index tracking the country's logistics market was 50.5 percent in June, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month, according to data from the federation.
A reading above 50 percent indicates expansion while a reading below reflects contraction.
"Judging from China's logistics index in July, although it declined, it is still in the expansion range. Social logistics demand in July is still at a relatively strong stage," said Liu Yuhang, director of China Logistics Information Center.
By region, the business volume index in central and western China was higher than the national average. Logistics in major industries remained vibrant, with e-commerce express delivery and air logistics showing significant growth, while rail and road transportation remained stable.
Specifically, in July, the e-commerce express delivery industry's business volume index was 69.3 percent, indicating a high level of prosperity, with continued growth in the e-commerce express delivery business, driven by the gradual arrival of fresh food and seasonal fruits and vegetables.
In July, the air transport industry's business volume index was 52.8 percent, a 0.8 percentage point increase from the previous month. Both the road and rail transport industry's business volume indices saw slight increases from the previous month.
