Russia on Sunday said that it attacked a railway hub in Ukraine's central Dnipropetrovsk region, while Ukraine reported striking an oil refinery in southwest Russia's Saratov region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, in the last 24 hours, Russian forces carried out strikes on Ukrainian military targets at 134 locations, including a railway hub in the Dnipropetrovsk region to impede Ukrainian troop reinforcements to the Donbass region, and destroyed a warehouse for long-range drones.

Besides, Russian forces launched offensives in the directions of Sumy, Kharkov, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, destroying Ukrainian armored vehicles, ammunition depots, and supply warehouses, said the ministry.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Sunday that Ukrainian forces remained in control of the village of Dachne in the Dnipropetrovsk region, dismissing Russian claims of its occupation as false. Meanwhile, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attempts to advance in the region, inflicting casualties on the Russian forces.

On the same day, Ukrainian forces launched an attack on an oil refinery in the Saratov region, causing explosions and fires within the facility.

European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said on Sunday that any agreement between the United States and Russia concerning the conclusion of the Russia-Ukraine conflict must include Ukraine and the EU, as this is crucial for the security of Ukraine and indeed the entire Europe.

Kallas revealed that she would convene an online meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday to discuss the next steps.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet on August 15 in the U.S. state of Alaska to discuss the Ukraine crisis.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Saturday that Ukraine's path to peace must be determined together with Ukraine, which is fundamental.

According to media reports, during a phone call with European leaders on Aug 6, Trump mentioned plans to hold talks with the leaders of Russia and Ukraine, without involving any European leaders. The New York Times reported that Trump sees Europe as untrustworthy.

The multilateral system is "under attack" amid global turmoil, President of the 80th UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock warned in her remarks on Wednesday.

In her briefing on the priorities for the resumed 80th Session of the General Assembly, the UNGA president noted that the current multilateral system does not collapse all in a sudden, but "crumbles piece by piece" in divisions, compromises, and lack of political commitment.

The president called all the UN member states to defend the UN Charter and international law and promote cross-regional cooperation.

She also urged to push forward the work of the UNGA on certain critical issues with a strong majority, rather than an absolute consensus among all member states. Such act is not a failure of multilateralism, but "an affirmation of it," she said.

The foundational principles of the institution should not be eroded by appeasement, she said, calling the member states to show courage, leadership, and responsibility at the UN's "critical make-or-break moment."

"The UN needs you. Your support, your leadership, your principle, stand, your cross-regional cooperation, if we are to preserve and modernize this institution, if we are to make it, rather than break it," she said.
