From Tuesday to Saturday, Chinese naval guided-missile frigate Honghe, part of the 47th Chinese naval escort task force, made a technical stop at Port Victoria in Seychelles, an island country off the eastern coast of Africa.
On Tuesday morning, the vessel docked at the port. The Chief of the Seychelles Defense Forces, military officials, officials from Chinese Embassy to Seychelles, representatives of Chinese enterprises, and over 200 members of the local Chinese community welcomed the ship's arrival. After berthing, Seychelles military representatives and local guests were invited to tour the vessel in groups.
The Honghe frigate, a fifth-generation "Sea Tiger" vessel undertaking its first escort mission in the Gulf of Aden, introduced visitors to the mission of China's naval escort operations and also history of the vessel.
In addition, Seychelles military representatives also invited the Chinese crew to take part in cultural exchange activities.
"The escort taskforce actively safeguards China's overseas interests, promotes military exchanges between China and Seychelles, contributes to the development of bilateral ties, and showcases the positive image of the Chinese military, making an active contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind," said Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles Lin Nan, who also joined the welcoming events.
