A cultural exchange event, "Echoes of Peace", was held in Mexico City on Saturday, highlighting the necessity to remember the great sacrifice made during the World Anti-Fascist War, while calling for global efforts to maintain peace.

Co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico and the China Media Group (CMG), the event brought together over 150 guests from Mexico's political, media, cultural sectors, as well as think tanks, including Yeidckol Polevnsky Gurwitz, chair of the Asia-Pacific Foreign Relations Committee of the Mexican Senate, and Raymundo Vazquez, president of the Mexico-China Friendship Group of the Mexican Chamber of Deputies.

Stressing that the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War was inseparable from the tremendous contributions and sacrifices made by Chinese, the guests said that history and reality have profoundly demonstrated that addressing global challenges requires adhering to a global governance concept of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.

All parties should stand on the right side of history and on the side of equity and justice, firmly act as transmitters of historical memory, doers of peaceful dialogue and defenders of international justice, working together to create a brighter future, they said.

"This major commemorative event showcasing the history of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression holds profound significance. The Chinese people ultimately achieved victory after years of struggle, facing all problems, abuses and aggression with unparalleled dignity," said Polevnsky.

At the event, CMG's Latin American branch presented several high-quality programs to Mexico's Channel 6 and the ruling party's think tank website, including the documentary "The Secret Betrayal" produced by the China Global Television Network (CGTN), and the documentary "The Great Victory - China's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression Through the Lens of a Soviet Photographer" co-produced by China and Russia.

Guests watched the documentary "The Secret Betrayal" together at the event.

During the event, several guests engaged in in-depth discussions on various topics, including the significance of commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War, the contributions of Global South countries to building a new international order, youth exchanges between Mexico and China, and building a China-Latin American countries community with a shared future.

Multiple mainstream media outlets from Latin American countries, including Mexico's Channel 6 and Brazil's Rede Bandeirantes, covered the event.

Iran's state television IRIB reported on Sunday that the U.S.-Iran talks, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, were suspended after about 80 minutes of discussions, as the two sides paused for a break and internal consultations.

According to media reports, no negotiations on Iran's nuclear program took place during the first round of talks, which focused on the implementation of clause 13 of the recently signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries and prioritized issues related to Lebanon.

Qatari sources said the first round of talks focused on Lebanon, with discussions on the Strait of Hormuz to follow. A third session will address Iran's nuclear program and sanctions.

Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency, citing a source close to the negotiating team, said the Iranian delegation left the venue of the talks in protest over comments by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Earlier in the day, Trump threatened on his Truth Social platform to "hit Iran very hard again" if Iran did not stop Hezbollah from "causing trouble."
