China's top legislator Zhao Leji led a party and government delegation on a visit to Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday and attended an event marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of Vietnam.

Zhao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), visited the country at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

During his meeting with To Lam, general secretary of the CPV Central Committee, Zhao said China is willing to work with Vietnam to implement the important consensus of the top leaders of the two parties.

He said China stands ready to deepen the exchange of governance experience in accordance with the overarching goals characterized by the "six mores," namely, stronger political mutual trust, more substantive security cooperation, deeper practical cooperation, more solid popular foundation, closer coordination and collaboration on multilateral affairs, and better management and resolution of differences, and will work together to promote the socialist modernization of the two countries, and accelerate the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

Lam said that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee, China has made brilliant achievements in its development and has become the main driving force for global economic growth. Vietnam always regards the development of relations with China as an objective requirement, strategic choice and top priority, and is willing to work with China to open the second golden age of Vietnam-China relations.

During his meeting with Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Zhao said China and Vietnam should respond to the uncertainty of the external situation with the superiority of the socialist system, firmly support each other's reform and development, and jointly resist unilateralism and protectionism.

For his part, Cuong said the Vietnamese side is sincerely pleased to see the continuous development and growth of China, and is willing to continuously consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, speed up the implementation of major landmark projects reached by the leaders of the two countries, and promote the traditional friendship between Vietnam and China to be deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

When meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Zhao expressed China's willingness to enhance synergy between the two countries' development strategies, boost cooperation in traditional areas, strengthen collaboration in emerging fields, and work jointly to safeguard the multilateral trading system while ensuring the stability of global supply chains.

Chinh stated that Vietnam is willing to advance economic integration and bilateral development within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to facilitate new progress in practical cooperation, including in areas such as railway construction.

During his meeting with Tran Thanh Man, Zhao said China's NPC is willing to enhance institutionalized exchanges with the National Assembly of Vietnam, learn from each other's experience in legislation and supervision, and provide legal guarantees for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. Man said the National Assembly of Vietnam is willing to maintain frequent exchanges and visits with the NPC of China, so as to promote the increasingly pragmatic and effective cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries.

Zhao and Man also attended the first session of the joint committee between the legislative bodies.

On Tuesday, Zhao attended a commemorative event marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of Vietnam at the Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, where he observed a military parade, grand processions, and large-scale cultural performances.

The Guard of Honor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) was invited to take part in the military parade by Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense.

Zhao visited Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, where a wreath laying ceremony was held, and also paid a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Stilt House during his trip.
