The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 64,656, with 163,503 others injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Wednesday.
Over the past 24 hours, hospitals across Gaza reported 41 deaths and 184 injuries in Israeli attacks, according to the statement.
On the same day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that its Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir convened senior military commanders for a briefing on the "Operation Gideon's Chariots II" in Gaza City.
Zamir reiterated that the IDF's two primary objectives are still the release of hostages and the defeat of Hamas. He emphasized that the IDF is closely monitoring changes in the balance of power in the Middle East, noting that Israel has been embroiled in the conflict for nearly two years and is now in a "decisive stage" of the war.
According to the IDF, Israeli Air Force launched dozens of planes and carried out three waves of strikes on Gaza City during "Operation Gideon's Chariots II." These operations reportedly destroyed over 360 targets, including observation and command centers, as well as sniper and anti-tank firing positions.
In addition, the IDF re-issued evacuation notices to residents in northern Gaza City on Wednesday, urging all who had not yet left to evacuate immediately. The military stated it plans to deploy a powerful force in Gaza City.
