Chinese tourists are flocking to cultural and scenic attractions during the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, which runs from October 1 to 8.

In Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei in central China, a parade featuring 23 large floats and 38 groups of performers wound its way through the city on Wednesday to celebrate National Day.

The floats will travel to different scenic areas and commercial districts across the city for all eight days of the holiday.

In Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province, low-altitude aviation performances provided citizens and tourists with a novel holiday experience.

In Suining, southwest China's Sichuan Province and Nanning in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, people celebrated the holiday with a series of lively performances.

In Huaining, east China's Anhui Province, over 30 public benefit performances brought culture and art on to the streets.

Over 400,000 visitors congregated at Beijing's major scenic spots, including the Summer Palace and the Old Summer Palace, where centennial osmanthus trees and themed flower beds brought a burst of color for the holiday.

At Taiping Lake Forest Park in Mile in southwest China's Yunnan Province, thousands of acres of lilies are in bloom across a brilliant sea of flowers.

The Old Town of Fenghuang in western Hunan Province in central China saw a large number of visitors on the first day of the holiday, with estimates saying 5 to 10 percent more visitors were in the Old Town compared to the same period last year.

"I came to see the local customs and culture, and experience the cultural atmosphere here. I also wish the motherland increasing prosperity and the people happiness and prosperity," said Tao Linghong, a tourist.

In the Taihang Mountains in Wu'an, north China's Hebei Province, a rural market built with traditional stone masonry techniques has opened. Tourists there can browse local products and experience the region's farming culture.

Shanghai's Yuyuan Garden offered popular local snacks from across the city and the country along specially themed food routes. Visitors can experience intangible cultural heritage skills and enjoy creatively prepared and presented food.

The Three Lanes and Seven Alleys district, or Sanfang Qixiang, a historic and cultural area built during the Jin Dynasty (265-420) in Fuzhou, capital city of east China's coastal Fujian Province, has launched tour routes and over 100 performance activities, attracting over 150,000 visitors on Wednesday alone.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, traditionally celebrated with mooncakes and family reunions, marks the harvest and the full moon. National Day, observed on October 1, commemorates the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

The China-Laos Railway has recorded robust growth in cross-border cargo trade, with its first-quarter value rising 62.7 percent year on year to 6.81 billion yuan (about 992 million U.S. dollars), a record high for the period.

From January to March this year, exports of photovoltaic products surged 43.2 times year on year to 1.19 billion yuan, while imports of fresh and dried fruits doubled to 500 million yuan, according to Kunming Customs in the border province of Yunnan in southwest China.

The railway is emerging as an efficient two-way corridor for "Chinese manufactured goods heading south and Southeast Asian specialties heading north", the customs noted.

Since its launch, the total value of imports and exports via the railway had exceeded 80 billion yuan as of Tuesday.

The railway now serves over 6,000 enterprises across China, with its trade influence extending to 19 countries and regions, including Laos and Thailand. The range of traded goods has expanded from around 500 categories at the start of operations to more than 3,800.

Kunming Customs has introduced various measures to facilitate border trade along the railway.

The China-Laos Railway, a landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, began operations in December 2021. The 1,035-km-long railway connects China's Kunming with Vientiane in Laos.
