The 138th edition of China's Canton Fair is spotlighting a Service Robots Zone to display cutting-edge innovations including humanoid robots, exoskeleton robots, spherical patrol robots, photovoltaic cleaning robots, educational robots, etc.

The Service Robots Zone has drawn 46 leading industry players to display their newest products.

"We applied an artificial intelligence model that covers multiple modalities on our robot. If you ask for a drink, it can respond by asking which one you want, and then bringing it to you. We've carried out an effective integration of relevant technologies," said an employee of a robot company showing its latest product at the event.

This edition of the Canton Fair, for the first time, features a smart medical zone -- which has attracted 47 companies showcasing products such as surgical robots, intelligent monitoring systems and wearable devices.

In the first three quarters, China's exports of industrial robots increased 54.9 percent year on year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

The 138th edition of the China Import and Export Fair, also known as the Canton Fair, started on Wednesday, with the number of exhibitors exceeding 32,000, a record high.

Scheduled to take place from Oct. 15 to Nov. 4 in the southern Chinese metropolis of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, this edition of the fair has also attracted a record number of buyers. As of Monday, over 240,000 buyers from 218 export markets had pre-registered, reflecting a 10-percent increase compared to the previous edition.

Among them, the number of buyers from the European Union, the United States and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative has increased significantly. Meanwhile, more than 400 leading purchasing companies will attend the fair.

According to surveys conducted ahead of the fair, over 1 million new products developed in the past year will be showcased at this edition of fair, while around 800,000 items will make their debuts at the fair.

Established in 1957, the Canton Fair is held twice a year. It is the longest-running of several comprehensive international trade events in China, and has been hailed as the barometer of China's foreign trade.

China has delivered a significant batch of emergency humanitarian aid to Iran, consisting of 58 tonnes of urgently needed medical supplies, as Iran grapples with the consequences of the recent conflict with the United States and Israel.

The aid was formally handed over on Wednesday during a signing ceremony in Tehran between the Chinese Embassy in Iran and the Iranian Red Crescent Society. Chinese Ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu and President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Pir Hossein Kolivand attended the event.

Cong said that China has always been concerned about the Iranian people and will continue to work with the international community to promote the early restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East.

"This aid package, totaling 58 tonnes, consists entirely of medicines. The recent war launched by the United States and Israel has caused a major humanitarian disaster for Iran, and medicine is in urgent need. Through this assistance, we hope to demonstrate the deep friendship of the Chinese people toward the Iranian people and help them overcome these hardships as soon as possible," said Cong.

Kolivand expressed sincere gratitude to China for extending a helping hand during difficult times and for providing valuable support to Iran on various occasions.

"In addition to China's support for the Iranian government, China's humanitarian aid has also been delivered to Iran. This assistance reflects China's care and compassion for our country and people. We extend our heartfelt gratitude, with special appreciation for the delivery of nearly 60 tonnes of medicine from China," he said.
