The seventh China Helicopter Exposition underway in the northern port city Tianjin held its first public day on Saturday, drawing tens of thousands of aviation fans with air stunts and interactive exhibitions.
Organizers expect more than 40,000 visitors during the expo's two-day public opening.
The Z-10 and Z-20 helicopters from the Fenglei (literally "wind and thunder") aerobatic team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) delivered a stunning aerial display to crowds of spectators on the first public day, showcasing their breathtaking performance and maneuverability.
The Z-20, a tactical utility helicopter, is making its China Helicopter Exposition debut at this year's event. "The flying performance was absolutely thrilling. It's so great to see the superb maneuverability of the helicopters," said one visitor.
"This trip was worth every minute. It's wonderful," said another.
At the exhibition halls, helicopter simulators provided an immersive experience for visitors. Children and adults waited enthusiastically for a turn to step inside the cockpit and get their own hands on a cyclic stick.
"I actually experienced the thrill of flying a helicopter. Walking out (of the simulator), I felt incredibly happy and had a great sense of accomplishment," said a girl.
"This is a truly unique experience. I'm happy to have my kid learn about it and spark her interest in this field," said her mother.
