China's express delivery sector handled 145.08 billion parcels in the first nine months of 2025, up 17.2 percent year on year, official data showed on Thursday.
The volume for September alone reached 16.88 billion, an increase of 12.7 percent year on year.
This volume growth has, in turn, fueled a continuous growth in industry revenue. In the first nine months, the sector's revenue hit almost 1.09 trillion yuan (around 153.1 billion U.S. dollars), a year-on-year increase of 8.9 percent.
In the first nine months, the volume of specialty agricultural products, including fruits and seafood, increased steadily with the arrival of the harvest season.
Meanwhile, the express delivery sector witnessed its integrated development with commerce, culture and tourism, with over 16 billion parcels handled each month since March as the consumption vitality continues to be unleashed.
This year, express delivery companies have increased their investment to enhance their capacities for air and high-speed rail transport and cold chain logistics, effectively ensuring the fresh and timely nationwide delivery of local specialty products.
Furthermore, equipped with autonomous vehicles and automated sorting systems, the companies have enhanced operational efficiency at local outlets, reducing sorting and delivery time and achieving faster delivery.
"In the first three quarters, China's express delivery sector demonstrated strong development resilience. The volume has remained at high levels each month. The sector has effectively supported the upward movement and nationwide circulation of agricultural products by enhancing air and high-speed rail transport capacity, particularly cold chain services. This has played an important supporting role in unlocking consumption potential and ensuring the steady operation of the economy," said Zhu Li, deputy head of the Department of Industrial Economic Research at the Development and Research Center of the State Post Bureau.
