Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin jointly chaired the 30th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government in Hangzhou City of east China's Zhejiang Province on Monday.

During the meeting, Li said that China and Russia are good neighbors and reliable partners with mutual trust.

Noting that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Soviet Union's Great Patriotic War, and the World Anti-Fascist War, Li said both countries have supported each other in holding grand commemorative events and further deepened China-Russia friendship.

Li said that two meetings between President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin this year have guided the high-level development of bilateral ties.

China stands ready to take the two leaders' significant consensus as a fundamental guide to strengthen strategic communication, deepen coordination, and better safeguard common development and security interests, he said.

Li noted that last month the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) deliberated over and adopted the recommendations for formulating the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), which lays out a blueprint for China's development over the next five years and beyond.

China is ready to work with Russia to align development strategies, expand cooperation across fields, constantly advance the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, and continue moving forward hand in hand on the path to modernization, Li said.

Mishustin congratulated China on the successful convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, adding that the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era is currently at a historic high.

Russia is ready to enhance high-level exchanges and expand cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, and people-to-people exchanges to further enrich the relationship between the two countries, he said.

Li and Mishustin heard the work reports of representatives from the committees under the regular meeting mechanism.

Both sides agreed that strategic guidance by the two heads of state is a key political guarantee for bilateral relations and cooperation between China and Russia, and that the full implementation of the leaders' consensus should be a priority.

The two sides also called for expanding the cooperation mechanism, unleashing development momentum, increasing investment in cooperation, and strengthening multilateral coordination.

Following the meeting, Li and Mishustin signed a joint communique of the 30th regular meeting between Chinese and Russian heads of government and jointly witnessed the signing of cooperation documents in customs, satellite navigation, and other areas.

U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he will extend the two-week ceasefire with Iran that was set to expire on Wednesday night (midnight GMT Tuesday).

"Based on the fact that the Government of Iran is seriously fractured, not unexpectedly so and, upon the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, of Pakistan, we have been asked to hold our Attack on the Country of Iran until such time as their leaders and representatives can come up with a unified proposal," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

The U.S. president said he will "extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted, and discussions are concluded, one way or the other."

The U.S. military will continue the blockade against Iran and "remain ready and able," according to Trump.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X Tuesday that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports is "an act of war and thus a violation of the ceasefire" and attacking Iranian merchant ships and detaining their crew members were even more serious violations.

"Iran knows how to neutralize restrictions, how to defend its interests, and how to resist bullying," Araghchi wrote in his post.

Mehdi Mohammadi, an advisor to Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, also said the U.S. blockade must be met with a military response, dismissing Trump's ceasefire extension announcement as "meaningless".

"Extending the ceasefire by Trump has no meaning. The losing side cannot dictate terms. Continuing the blockade is no different from bombing and must be met with a military response. Moreover, any extension of the ceasefire by Trump is certainly a way to buy time for a surprise attack. Now is the time for Iran to take the initiative," Mohammadi posted on X.
