The Light of Internet Expo opened in Wuzhen, east China's Zhejiang Province, on Thursday as part of the 2025 World Internet Conference (WIC) Wuzhen Summit, with dazzling displays of cutting-edge technologies and the latest examples of industrial achievements.

The expo features seven themed exhibition areas that bring together thousands of AI-related innovations from 600 companies worldwide.

One of the highlights this year is the brand-new "Super Experience Hall", where visitors can watch humanoid robots compete in boxing matches, enjoy performances by a robot band, and even operate robots themselves in immersive training sessions.

The expo serves as a prelude to the 2025 WIC Wuzhen Summit, which will officially open on Friday and run through Sunday.

As a beacon for global internet development, the summit has once again drawn worldwide attention, with frontier technologies, breakthrough innovations, and industry leaders converging in the ancient water town.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the concept of building a community with a shared future in cyberspace. Following this guiding theme, the summit features 24 parallel forums focusing on AI, technological innovation, and international cooperation, with newly introduced topics designed to break industry barriers and encourage deeper exchanges of insights across different industries.

In particular, a special event spotlighting Hangzhou's "six elite companies," a cohort of tech startups including Unitree Robotics, a pioneer in humanoid robot development, and DeepSeek, the rising star in artificial intelligence (AI), is scheduled to be held for the first time during the summit on Friday, which will focus on cross-disciplinary discussions on AI and robotics.

The European Union on Wednesday approved a new round of sanctions against Iran, targeting 19 individuals and entities.

The sanctions were approved by EU ambassadors earlier that day, according to a social media post by Kaja Kallas, European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice-President.

In a strongly worded statement on Wednesday, Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for Iranian Foreign Ministry slammed the punitive measures.

He said that the EU is attempting to penalize Iran for resisting "brutal and unlawful aggression of the United States and the Israeli regime."

At the same time, Baghaei added, the EU is arming and supporting the U.S. and Israel and providing them with the means to act.
