Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut has praised China's development model, describing its five-year planning system as both unique and visionary, and highlighting its long-term strategic approach as a valuable example for countries around the world.
Macut made the remarks during his visit to China earlier this month, where he attended the eighth China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai and highlighted the strength of bilateral ties.
In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) aired Friday, Macut emphasized the importance of China's five-year plans, calling them essential for the development of large nations.
"This is a very good way to very properly organize the future of the country because you are a huge country and something like the five year plans are giving clear perspectives for you. So you clearly defined in the 14th Five Year Plan, something that really was fulfilled and completed in the beginning of this period. So this way could inspire us also to plan in advance," he said.
"I truly believe that you could not just look (at) six months ahead or one year, you must look into a few years ahead. I think your approach, the five year approach, which is the original approach at this moment in the world, I truly believe this long lasting strategy was mirrored on this very efficient, very quick development, which could be achieved only in this way and especially in such a big country as China is," said the prime minister.
In October, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China concluded with the adoption of the Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, which sets China's strategic course for 2026 to 2030, a vital period linking past achievements with the milestone of basically achieving socialist modernization by 2035.
