Trade and economic cooperation should continue to be the ballast and stabilizer of China-U.S. relations, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Guo Jiakun said on Monday at a regular press briefing in Beijing.

Speaking on the economic and trade relations between China and the United States, Guo said that the two countries should work for more positive progress through dialogue.

"The economic and trade relations between China and the United States are mutually beneficial and win-win in nature, with neither side taking advantage of the other. Trade and economic cooperation should continue to be the ballast and stabilizer of the China-U.S. relations. We hope that the U.S. side will work with China to implement common understandings reached by leaders of the two countries, uphold principles of equality, respect, and mutual benefit, and expand cooperation while narrowing differences through dialogue, so as to strive for more positive progress," said Guo.
