Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has stressed the importance of the China-proposed initiatives in tackling global challenges, calling on countries to respect the frameworks.

In an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG) broadcast on Friday, the East African country's leader said he supports a global mechanism based on the four initiatives proposed by China, and actively promotes his country's participation in other China-led international platforms.

The president's comments were made at a time when the 2013 Chinese concept of a community with a shared future for mankind has gained wide recognition worldwide. China has also put forward four major global initiatives - the 2021 Global Development Initiative, the 2022 Global Security Initiative, the 2023 Global Civilization Initiative, and the 2025 newly proposed Global Governance Initiative.

"The world is different, geographically, [in the] developmental level. The challenges that each country is facing is [are] different. But what we are talking on those four [initiatives] is the framework and the principles that one has to respect. At the principle level, like respect of sovereignty, respect of alternative ideas, supporting the world's challenges, not benefiting from the weaknesses of others, these are certain basic principles that we completely agree and work together in the global framework," said Mohamud.

"China has recently also developed a platform for mediation and conflict resolution, which Somalia is joining and being part of that. That framework is more useful by helping each country, its own standing with that purpose, standing with that challenge. So we are part of that," the president continued.

As temperatures drop in the north hemisphere, large flocks of swans have migrated from the colder north to Jinxian County of Nanchang City in warmer east China's Jiangxi Province to tide over the winter.

This year, thanks to the improved environment, over 10,000 swans have arrived in the vast stretches of wetlands in the county, according to staff of the local forestry bureau.

These beautiful creatures have attracted many birdwatchers, residents, and visitors eager to capture the scene.

"I have been coming here to photograph birds for 12 consecutive years. Each year, I have different experiences in bird photography. Over recent years, I've felt that the ecological system in Jinxian has improved significantly, and the varieties of migratory birds have also increased. This change is a result of everyone's efforts to protect and love birds. Every time I see a stunning scene, my mood is different," said Fan Zheping, a birdwatcher.

Not far from the site, Nanchang City has built a natural education and science popularization base featuring specimen displays, immersive VR experiences, and 3D video presentations.

"Such an immersive experience is not only particularly novel and interesting, but also deepens our understanding of the importance of protecting migratory bird habitats and safeguarding nature," said Luo Canqi, a local pupil.
