The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 14 pips to 7.0187 against the U.S. dollar Wednesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by two percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.

Shanghai Port handled 55.06 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2025, retaining its position as the world's busiest port by container throughput for the 16th consecutive year and setting a new record, the Shanghai International Port Group announced on Wednesday.

The milestone coincides with the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Yangshan Port area, a key offshore deep-water hub of Shanghai Port.

With the completion of the northern operational area of Xiaoyangshan Port and the second-phase renovation of the Luojing Port area, Shanghai Port is expected to further expand its handling capacity and improve operational efficiency.
