The Shenzhou-21 crew have carried out multiple in-orbit training tasks and steadily advanced scientific experiments in several fields aboard China's Tiangong space station over the past week.

The Shenzhou-21 crew consists of mission commander Zhang Lu, and astronauts Wu Fei and Zhang Hongzhang. The three astronauts have been in orbit for more than 70 days.

The crew conducted scheduled training on remotely operated rendezvous and docking last week, practicing precise control of the speed and orientation using specialized handles.

In addition, they also performed medical rescue drills to better familiarize themselves with emergency handling procedures and skills as well as equipment locations in a microgravity environment. The astronauts also carried out emergency evacuation drills simulating a space station fire scenario, strengthening their ability to respond to sudden contingencies.

Scientific experiments continued to progress smoothly. In the field of space medicine, the crew used electroencephalogram equipment in combination with virtual reality devices to conduct experiments on eye-brain coordination, aiming to study changes in brain control signal patterns under microgravity conditions. Related research also covered microgravity intuitive-physics and space-based cooperative coding and regulation.

In space materials science, in-situ electrochemical optical experiments on lithium-ion batteries advanced as planned, with expected results to support the development and application of batteries for future space missions.

Alongside experiments, the crew completed routine tasks including replacing and maintaining experimental modules, cleaning and changing samples in the containerless experiment chamber, and inspecting and maintaining key space station systems such as the regenerative life support equipment, ensuring the station’s safe and stable operation.
