US government approves Nvidia H200 chip exports to China

The U.S. government on Tuesday approved Nvidia to export its H200 AI chip to China.

The sales to China will be vetted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, on the condition that 25 percent of the chip sales will be paid to the U.S. government.

On Dec 8, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the United States will allow Nvidia to ship its H200 AI chips to "approved customers" in China and elsewhere.

The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 17 pips to 7.012 against the U.S. dollar Wednesday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.

In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.

The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
