Venezuelan legal professionals on Friday condemned U.S. forcible seizure of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores, demanding respect for international law and Venezuela's sovereignty at a conference held in Caracas.
The conference was attended by Venezuela's Foreign Minister Gil Pinto, Attorney General Tarek William Saab, and Nicolas Maduro Guerra, the son of President Maduro.
Appeals were made to the legal community for efforts within the fields of law and diplomacy to uphold the peaceful order.
Nicolas Maduro Guerra, also a member of Venezuela's National Assembly, defined the U.S. move as "kidnapping" and called for maintaining peace and order within the country.
He said that Venezuela should maintain ties with other countries, including the U.S., and settle disagreements within the political framework.
