IOC President meets Chinese-developed robot during Milan visit

International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry interacted with a Chinese-developed intelligent robot during her tour of the Olympic Village in Milan on Monday, highlighting innovation at the upcoming Games.

Located in southeast Milan, the Village also welcomed President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee Giovanni Malago, as well as members of the IOC Executive Board and IOC Athletes' Commission.

The group toured an exhibition hall showcasing displays from various Olympic partners before Coventry expressed particular interest in an advanced Chinese-developed robot. She engaged with the robot as part of her visit to explore innovative technologies supporting future Olympic Games.

Coventry also visited the athletes' residential zone, observing the living arrangements and amenities provided to competitors.

Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi paid a visit to a section of the Great Wall in Beijing on Monday as part of his ongoing state visit to China.

Orsi arrived in the Chinese capital on Sunday to begin a week-long state visit at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Video footage shot by the CCTV Video News Agency showed Orsi posing for photos with tourists while climbing a stretch of the Great Wall on Monday morning.

The Uruguayan president later visited another Beijing landmark when he stopped by the Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City, on the same day.

Orsi held talks with President Xi in the Great Hall of the People on Tuesday, with the two countries vowing to deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields.
