China Media Group (CMG) has brought a series of advanced sci-tech innovative achievements and multiple quality programs to the 2026 Saudi Media Forum, drawing wide attentions from global media professionals.

The 2026 Saudi Media Forum and the Future of Media Exhibition on Monday opened in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia. As the largest professional media forum in the Middle East, the event runs from Monday through Wednesday. Held under the theme of "Media in a Shaping World," the 2026 edition features the participation of over 250 media companies and organizations from all over the world, to showcase the latest technologies and trends of application in the media sector.

CMG was invited to set up a dedicated booth at the exhibition, prominently displaying its achievements in AI application in media and 8K ultra-high-definition broadcasting, as well as its quality programs.

Notable visitors to the CMG booth, including Saudi Broadcasting Authority CEO Ali Al-Zaid, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy to Saudi Arabia Ma Jian, officials from the Qatari Olympic Committee, and representatives from the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), praised CMG's development in applying AI technologies in media production and its programming efforts, after watching demonstrations of AI applications and promotional videos for the Spring Festival Gala and the upcoming Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

CMG's AI media application showcase features the CMG Media GPT big model and an AI-based sports tactical analysis model. The sports tactical analysis model has already been put into use in several major events such as the Paris Olympics and the Harbin Asian Winter Games, providing precise identification and analysis of key parameters, thus facilitating tactical interpretations, auxiliary judgment and trend predictions.

Many media professionals noted that such applications hold substantial practical value, anticipating further collaboration with CMG.

On the other side of the exhibition booth, the promotional video of CMG's 2026 Spring Festival Gala plays on loop, drawing crowds eager to experience the unique charm of the Chinese New Year. Accompanying this are intricately designed cultural products inspired by the Gala, including plush toys of the mascots -- four majestic ponies.

Muhsin Malik, head of ASBU's transmission department, commented on the high quality of the Spring Festival Gala production, noting its embodiment of the fusion of modernity and traditional Chinese culture, setting a benchmark for the industry.

During the event, short films such as the 2026 Winter Olympics promo titled "Above the Ice" and promotional reels for a media project dubbed "China Travel with Chinese Films" are screened, enriching the visitors' understanding of Chinese culture and stories.

A Norwegian visitor remarked on the stunning scene of a robot painting the 2026 Winter Olympics logo in "Above the Ice," highlighting the perfect blend of technology and art and its accurate expression of the spirit of the times.

Officials from countries including Saudi Arabia and Qatar as well as representatives from the ASBU visited CMG's exhibition booth, commending the innovative sci-tech achievements on display and expressing hopes for deeper collaboration to elevate media partnerships to new heights.

China's Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao outlined the key priorities of the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting, which opened on Friday in Suzhou, East China's Jiangsu province.

In an interview with CGTN ahead of the two-day meeting, Wang said free trade, digital cooperation and green economy are high on the agenda of the meeting.

"The key areas include advancing regional economic integration and the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, supporting the World Trade Organization (WTO) in strengthening digital cooperation and developing green economy. At present, the international situation is marked by intertwined turbulence and chaos, with intensified geopolitical instability. The rise of unilateralism and protectionism poses serious challenges to the international economic and trade order, disrupting global and Asia-Pacific development. Against this backdrop, all parties have higher expectations for this trade ministers' meeting, hoping that it can build consensus and deliver outcomes," Wang said.

This year marks China's third time hosting the APEC meetings and the 35th anniversary of its membership.

By 2025, China had become the largest trading partner of 13 APEC economies. Trade between China and APEC economies reached 3.7 trillion U.S. dollars, accounting for 57.8 percent of China's total foreign trade.

China has signed 24 free trade agreements or economic and trade arrangements with 31 countries and regions, including 15 APEC economies. In recent years, China has also completed upgrades of free trade agreements with APEC economies such as Singapore and Peru.

The minister said that China has always been a firm supporter and an important contributor to APEC.

"We have actively shared our vast market and development opportunities with all parties. China's door to the world will only open wider and wider. Facing the common challenges, China will continue to fulfill its responsibilities as a major country, further deepen reform, expand high-standard opening-up, and continue to provide new opportunities for the Asia-Pacific region and the world with its new achievements in Chinese modernization," the minister said.
