On the second floor of Milan's International Broadcast Center, China Media Group (CMG)'s 8K multi-functional hall is providing unprecedented support in its coverage of the ongoing Winter Olympics.

Measuring around 94 square meters, the space is equipped with a 275-inch ultra-high-definition screen, along with 30 speakers, to deliver an immersive audio-visual experience for audience around the world.

All through the Games, the CMG will continue to produce 8K international common signals for events like the opening and closing ceremonies, figure skating, and short track from the special theater.

The hall's supervisor said that he was pleased that all systems are functioning at full capacity, while a Canadian staff member agreed that the signal truly amplifies the viewing experience.

"The 8K theater represents the first joint project between the CMG and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) for construction and operation. Supported by the CMG's on-site 8K production system, this hall demonstrates the CMG's complete end-to-end technical solution for 8K broadcasting," said Cheng Kun, CMG 8K Multi-Functional Hall Chief.

"I also know the opening ceremony is better on TV as well. So again, this is the best television experience to possibly have. It's next best thing to being there," said a Canadian broadcast staff member.

The Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics opened on February 6, which will run through February 22.
