MTR stated that to facilitate the public's travel and celebration during the Chinese New Year, services on several heavy rail lines will be enhanced at different times from February 13 to the Chinese New Year period, adding over 600 trains in total.

Especially, on February 16, MTR will provide overnight service. On the evenings of February 17 and 18, the frequency of trains on some lines will also be increased to facilitate the public's enjoyment of the float parade and fireworks displays along Victoria Harbour.

The Hong Kong section of the High Speed Rail will enhance the train services of the lines from the Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to the Futian Station in Shenzhen and the Beijing West Railway Station.
At approximately 8:35 am this morning, a passenger's portable charger caught fire in a MTR carriage at Tsuen Wan West Station, making about 400 passengers disperse to the platform.

A passenger shared the on-site experience on the social media platform "rednote", stating that a portable charger exploded and started smoking when the MTR was en route to Tsuen Wan West station. He described the experience as "terrifying for everyone in the carriage... and we cannot get off the MTR immediately." Allegedly, some passengers in the carriage extinguished the fire with fire extinguishers before the firefighters arrived on the scene. After the passengers got off the MTR safely, the firefighters arrived in time.
