China launched a new group of seven satellites at 14:37 Beijing Time on Thursday in an offshore mission.

A Smart Dragon-3 (SD-3) carrier rocket lifted off from waters near the coast of Yangjiang, a city in south China's Guangdong Province, sending Pakistan's PRSC-EO2 remote-sensing satellite, an AI-equipped Earth observation satellite designed by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and five other satellites into planned orbit.

The Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province undertook the launch mission, which marked the ninth flight of the Smart Dragon-3 rocket.

China firmly rejects and strongly deplores the blatant vilification and smear by the United States against Chancay Port, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a daily press briefing in Beijing on Thursday.

Lin made the remarks in response to a related query about relevant statements recently made by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.

Chancay Port, a deep-water hub and South America's first smart green port, is a flagship Belt and Road cooperation project between China and Peru.
