A 23-minute fireworks show lit up Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor on Wednesday, the second day of the Year of the Horse that began on February 17 this year.
At 20:00, the show opened with high-density fireworks mimicking charging horses, followed by bursts that shaped like the Arabic numeral "eight" and gold ingots symbolizing wealth and prosperity, prompting cheers from spectators at both sides of the harbor.
In total, 31,888 shells were ignited throughout the eight acts of the fireworks display.
In anticipation of the bonanza, many residents and tourists secured spots near the harbor early in the evening for the best views.
"It was amazing. Yeah, the firework was amazing. We wish you Happy New Year, prosperity, a lot of money, health, and all good things that go with that," said a tourist from Serbia.
"The fireworks display is a traditional event in Hong Kong. We hope that more people of the Chinese mainland and friends from foreign countries can come and watch it. May everyone achieve great success in the Year of the Horse," said a local resident.
"This is the first time that I watch the Victoria Harbor fireworks show. It was extremely impressive, with a duration that felt sufficiently extended. The richness of its visual saturation was especially captivating," said a tourist from the Chinese mainland.
"This is my first time watching the Spring Festival fireworks over the Victoria Harbor. The Chinese New Year atmosphere here felt exceptionally vibrant and uplifting. I wish everyone a joyful family reunion, good health and a happy New Year. I also extend my best wishes for continued prosperity and strength to our great motherland," said a university student from the Chinese mainland.
