China has launched an overseas campaign linking films and tourism to showcase the country's cultural and natural landscapes to global audiences.

Jointly initiated by the China Film Administration and China Media Group, the campaign, named "China Travel with Chinese Films," is being promoted through CMG's "Overseas Thousand Screens" platform.

It focuses on promoting "film + tourism" by integrating Chinese film screenings, international film festivals, and overseas Chinese film festivals to encourage foreign audiences to experience China through cinematic storytelling.

By fostering innovative collaboration between the film and tourism industries, the initiative seeks to develop themed travel routes that offer immersive experiences in both movie culture and China's natural and cultural landscapes, effectively linking media exposure with consumer engagement.

In 2026, promotional clips will be broadcast on more than 600 public screens across 28 countries, including the United States, Germany, France, Italy, Russia, and New Zealand.

As of Thursday, China's 2026 box office, including presales, has exceeded five billion yuan (about 723.74 million U.S. dollars), with the Spring Festival holiday period alone contributing more than 2.9 billion yuan (about 419.77 million U.S. dollars).

China on Wednesday urged certain countries with so-called "diplomatic ties" with its Taiwan region to make a correct choice that keeps up with the prevailing trend of history.

At a press conference in Beijing, Zhang Han, spokeswoman for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, responded to a media query regarding the recent tout visit to the Taiwan region by Paraguayan President Santiago Pena.

"The one-China principle is the basic norm governing international relations and the prevailing international consensus. Around the world, 183 countries have already established diplomatic relations with China on the basis of the one-China principle," said the spokeswoman.

"The provocative moves by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in Taiwan to pursue their separatist agenda go against the trend of history and will eventually end in complete failure," she said.
