Over a dozen wild dolphins were spotted swimming together in good health in the nearshore waters in Sanya, south China's Hainan Province, on Tuesday.
The dolphins were spotted by staff at the Wuzhizhou Island Tourist Area of Sanya, showing an active and relaxed demeanor by occasionally leaping out of the sea surface.
As a flagship species for evaluating marine ecosystems, dolphins have extremely high requirements for the water quality, food abundance, and food chain integrity of their habitats. Their appearance in the nearshore waters serves as a direct evidence of the continuous improvement of the ecological environment in the waters surrounding Wuzhizhou Island.
According to the tourist area, rare marine species, such as blacktip reef sharks and spotted seals, have been spotted in this area in recent years as the marine ecological environment continues to improve.
