The Chinese embassy and consulate in Iran have organized and coordinated the evacuation of another batch of over 470 Chinese citizens from the country, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said in Beijing on Wednesday.
Mao was responding to a media query about the Chinese government's efforts to protect its citizens in Iran and in its neighboring countries.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chinese embassies and consulates in relevant countries have issued multiple alerts and conducted work through various means, urging and assisting Chinese citizens in Iran to evacuate as soon as possible and advising those in Iran's neighboring countries to prioritize their safety. The Chinese embassies and consulates in Iran and its neighboring countries have worked tireless around the clock, assisting multiple groups of Chinese citizens in their evacuation. After the outbreak of the conflict, another 470 Chinese citizens have been safely evacuated under the organization of the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in Iran," Mao said.
"Given the current serious security challenges in Iran, we once again solemnly remind Chinese citizens in Iran of bolstering their safety measures and evacuating as soon as possible, and promptly reporting their information to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in Iran. We advise the Chinese citizens to temporarily refrain from traveling to the countries and regions neighboring Iran that are affected by military strikes. Those already in such areas are advised to further strengthen their personal security precautions and avoid going to sensitive areas such as military facilities, demonstrations, and rallies. In case of emergency, please call the local police immediately and contact the Chinese diplomatic and consular missions in the areas for help," Mao said.
