China will remain firm in thwarting Taiwan secessionist forces and opposing any external interference in the Taiwan affair, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.
Guo made the statement in response to a media query about a certain official from Taiwan who paid a sneaky visit to Japan.
"The person you mentioned, with ulterior motives, stealthily went to Japan for provocative little tricks on separating Taiwan from China. Such shady skullduggery is despicable. China remains highly vigilant and firmly opposes Japan's attempts to play edge ball or seek 'breakthroughs' on the Taiwan question. Japan is bound to pay a price for its indulgence in provocations and reckless acts, and must bear all the consequences stemming from them. China will remain firm in thwarting Taiwan secessionist forces, resolutely oppose any external interference in the Taiwan question, and firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity," Guo said.
