A job fair offering more than 2,000 innovation-focused positions opened Friday at Hong Kong's flagship incubator Cyberport, highlighting 21 sectors across the technology industry.

The fair is part of Hong Kong's broader drive to build innovation and technology into a pillar of its economy, with officials stressing the need to cultivate artificial intelligence (AI) and digital talent to support the city's transformation.

The two-day fair presented opportunities across cutting-edge areas such as AI, big data and the low-altitude economy, reflecting Hong Kong's push to position itself as a regional hub for digital innovation. It also featured an AI-powered job-search system and career matching platform, part of efforts to accelerate talent development and align the city more closely with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's integration strategy.

"When we receive resumes, we can quickly see their majors and skills. This is about 80 percent more efficient than how we used to look for talent," said an employer.

"Cyberport provides a great place with hundreds of different companies for us to explore," said a job seeker.

Over 10 seminars on AI, innovation and technology, and career development were lined up during the job fair. Organizers also highlighted the event's role in connecting young job seekers with opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, underscoring Hong Kong's position as a bridge for national innovation goals.

As spring ploughing gets into full swing across China, smart agriculture, ranging from upgraded high-horsepower farm machinery to AI-powered precision management, is boosting efficiency and saving labor for farmers in Shaoxing, east China's Zhejiang Province.

On a farm in Shaoxing's Shangyu District, a brand-new high-horsepower tractor was plowing across the vast field. Sun Yiting, who manages the farm, said the machine greatly outperforms the tractors previously used on the farm.

"In the past, we could only plow about 80 mu (about 5.3 hectares) a day. Now, we can plow up to 120 mu a day," Sun said.

In another aquaculture area in the district, traditional shrimp farming used to depend on workers lifting and checking the shrimp nets at specific times and locations, a process that was time-consuming, labor-intensive, and prone to inaccurate data. Today, a smart device called the "AR shrimp net" is transforming this practice.

"Once this machine is set up, for example, to lift the net every two hours, it automatically takes photos. This not only improves (data) accuracy but also frees up our time," said Wang Azhong, head of a local aquaculture cooperative.
