National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday spoke highly of Chinese President Xi Jinping's leadership, saying that his unwavering dedication to safeguarding China's core national interests and his pronounced sense of responsibility in international matters have garnered him great esteem and broad respect.
In an interview with the China Media Group, Berdimuhamedov, also chairman of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) of Turkmenistan, underscored his sincere friendship with President Xi and their shared commitment to bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
"My relationship with President Xi is characterized by sincere friendship. Over the years, we have jointly planned and advanced comprehensive cooperation between our countries in political, economic and cultural fields. Together, we have implemented a series of significant joint projects. To achieve peace, stability and sustainable development regionally and globally, we have pooled the wisdom and strength of both sides. My interactions with President Xi have always been marked by candor, mutual trust and support, and a spirit of openness and inclusiveness. President Xi steadfastly and resolutely safeguards China's core national interests and approaches major international issues with a strong sense of responsibility. It is precisely this outstanding leadership that has earned him the high esteem and broad respect due to a world-class statesman," said Berdimuhamedov.
Over the recent years, Xi has successively put forward the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, providing China's wisdom and solutions for responding to the changing world and solving the problems facing humanity.
Berdimuhamedov said that these initiatives echo Turkmenistan's long-established development principles, and, he believes, will create a brighter future for the cooperation between the two countries.
"I hold these initiatives in the highest regard, as they are highly consistent and mutually reinforcing with Turkmenistan's longstanding principles of 'peace promoting development' and 'dialogue as the guarantee of peace,' both in substance and strategic direction. This undoubtedly opens up broader prospects and creates greater opportunities for our two countries to deepen cooperation," said Berdimuhamedov.
"I firmly believe that, as the outstanding leader of great China, President Xi Jinping plays a decisive and pivotal role in advancing the great cause of China's development and progress. China, as a major pillar of global security and sustainable development today, is therefore moving forward steadily and with confidence. I would like to say: 'When China does well, the world will get even better' ," he said.
"I sincerely wish respected President Xi Jinping good health and family happiness, and new and greater achievements on the great journey of governing the country. May he, as a world-class leader, guide the Chinese people with his extraordinary vision toward an even more prosperous and brilliant future," said Berdimuhamedov.
