The 9th Digital China Summit is scheduled to open on April 29 in Fuzhou, the provincial capital of Fujian in the east, a senior Chinese official said at a press conference in Beijing on Tuesday.
Liu Liehong, director of the National Data Administration (NDA), said the two-day summit will feature more than 50 dialogs and exchange activities and over 100 special events.
"This summit will fully display the landmark achievements and milestone progress in the development of Digital China, with the release of the Digital China Development Report (2025) and the Digital China development index. More than 30 important policies, reports, and standards concerning the development of Digital China will be issued by 12 ministries and commissions, including the National Data Administration, the Cyberspace Administration of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the National Healthcare Security Administration and the China Meteorological Administration. An Artificial Intelligence section will be added to the on-site experience area, covering the key aspects of computing power, algorithms and data, and industry applications," said Liu.
Nearly 400 companies will present their latest technologies and products in digital transformation during this year's summit, spanning areas of chips, embodied AI, industrial large models and more, said the official.
"The summit will also present in concentration nearly 100 typical cases of integrated applications of data elements in agriculture, industrial manufacturing, healthcare, culture and tourism, and other areas, with over 65 percent of these cases to be premiered for the first time. This year's summit innovatively introduces an 'industry matching cabin' to directly match innovation achievements with market demands. Through practical initiatives such as project matchmaking, industrial collaboration, and ecosystem co-development, the summit will leverage its role as an open cooperation platform to continuously foster a more dynamic and thriving digital industry ecosystem," Liu said.
China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) highlights the construction of Digital China as a key priority and places greater emphasis on the integration of digital technologies with AI than the 14th Five-Year Plan.
In the coming five years, efforts will be made to harness data and digital-intelligent technologies to propel the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries and cultivate emerging and future industries, according to the National Data Administration.

Global economists and corporate executives at the China Development Forum (CDF) 2026 said that the world's second largest economy remains a predictable force at a time of geopolitical flux and global uncertainty.
Stability, a recurring theme from last year's forum, resonated more strongly during the two-day forum this year which concluded on Monday in Beijing, as the conflict in the Middle East continues to drive international oil and gold price volatility.
As gold prices extended another day of dramatic fluctuation on Monday following several days of decline, forum attendees, including leaders of international organizations, business executives and prominent scholars from around the world, gathered for a pair of symposiums on addressing uncertainty and exploring growth opportunities, as well as on the global low-carbon transition and sustainable development.
They held heated discussions about the energy prices surge rippling across the wider global economy as a result of the Middle East conflict, and the long-term impact of geopolitical tensions on gold, typically a go-to safe-haven in times of uncertainty.
Zhu Min, a member of the Senior Expert Advisory Committee of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, shared his view on the declining investor confidence in the yellow metal, in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV).

This represents a fundamental shift," he said.

Zhu thinks gold is still a key safe-haven asset for investors, but expressed his concern over the lasting impact of severely disrupted supply chains on oil prices.
He dismissed the impact of the Middle East conflict on China, as the country has long highlighted the reduction of fossil fuel consumption and development of clean energy in its strategic planning, which he said not only stabilizes growth expectations, but also offers certainty to the world.

Foreign academics and executives at this year's forum agreed that the energy crisis has spotlighted the need to transition to renewables, which helps to create a predictable business environment, and said China's green transformation achievements offer opportunities for cooperation to multinationals in the global energy sector.
