China's Ministry of Commerce will further promote the optimized and balanced development of trade, He Yongqian, the ministry's spokeswoman, said at a press conference on Thursday in Beijing.
He said that China's foreign trade maintained a relatively rapid growth trend in the first two months of this year. Although the impact of the geopolitical conflicts continues to emerge, the steady and positive momentum is expected to continue along with the continued release of China's economic vitality.
"China is committed to promoting high-level opening-up and is willing to work with its trading partners to make the pie of global economic and trade bigger. Regarding expanding imports, China is the world's second-largest economy and second-largest import market. With industrial upgrading and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, new market demands are being released, indicating enormous import potential. The Ministry of Commerce will fully leverage its role as a platform, host important exhibitions such as the China International Import Expo, and expand its brand influence of 'Export to China'. We will also strengthen precise matching, leverage the advantages of all parties, import more high-quality foreign goods, technologies, and services, and share the opportunities of China's vast market with countries around the world," she said.
