Two rounds of airstrikes hit Iranian capital of Tehran on Sunday night, activating the country's air defense systems in response.
Video footage captured by the China Media Group (CMG) showed that the night sky above the capital was lit up by successive explosions as sirens blared, warning of incoming missiles.
The airstrikes also triggered blackouts in some areas of the capital city.
"I am now in the northeast of Tehran, the capital of Iran. At 21:05 and 21:18 local time on March 29, Tehran was attacked by two rounds of large-scale airstrikes. Look over there, there is still smoke billowing into the sky after the explosions. After the explosions at 21:05 on March 29, the air defense systems in Tehran were activated, and we could also hear the sound of the air raid sirens," CMG reporter Li Jiannan reported.
The latest airstrikes hit multiple areas across Tehran. Some residents in the capital and the nearby city of Karaj reported that power facilities in their neighborhoods were targeted, causing blackouts.
At present, the U.S.-Israel-Iran conflict remains intense, with Iran escalating its strikes on U.S. military bases in Israel and in other countries in the region.
Li also reported that the United States and Israel have significantly intensified and frequented the airstrikes on Tehran over the recent days.
The conflict erupted on Feb. 28 when the United States and Israel launched airstrikes on Tehran and several other Iranian cities. Since then, the attacks have continued, targeting key Iranian military command centers, missile installations, energy infrastructures and nuclear facilities.
