China's Ministry of Commerce will leverage Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) policies to promote the high-quality development of the China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), while also improve the expo's function as a platform to further the free trade port's development, Vice Commerce Minister Sheng Qiuping said at a press conference in Beijing on Monday.
More than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions will take part in the upcoming expo, which is scheduled to take place in Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province, from April 13 to 18.
Jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Commerce and the Hainan provincial government, the sixth expo marks the first edition of the event since the Hainan FTP fully launched island-wide special customs operations.
"The rapid development of the expo has benefited from the free trade port's policies. Leveraging the advantages of the policies of the FTP, we will work to make the CICPE the best pilot ground for cultivating new drivers of consumption and promoting consumption upgrades," Sheng said.
The expo this year will feature two dedicated sub-venues: an international yacht exhibition area in Sanya, and an international health consumption exhibition area in the Bo'ao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone.
"As one of the key industrial parks within the free trade port, the health exhibition area in Bo'ao Lecheng will showcase the outcomes of opening-up policies in the medical and healthcare sector, offering new health-related consumption experience that integrates medical services, health care, and tourism," he said.
"This year's CICPE will feature launches of international premium products and matchmaking events for multinational companies under the 'Shopping in China' and 'Export to China' initiatives. Focusing on investing in China, we will host the second Global Industrial Investment Promotion Conference for the Hainan Free Trade Port, sharing new opportunities emerging after the island-wide special customs operations with global investors and making the Hainan Free Trade Port an ideal destination for investing in China and exploring China's market," Sheng said.
