A golden pheasant was captured on camera to court a female by a photography enthusiast at an observation point located 1,200 meters above sea level in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of central China's Hubei Province.

With its plumage shimmering in a dazzling array of red, orange, golden-yellow, green and blue, the golden pheasant is a rare bird species unique to China.

Spring is the breeding season for golden pheasants. The male was seen to fluff its gorgeous tail feathers, strut proudly, and circle with melodious calls to attract the female, putting on a lively and romantic courtship display.

Since the observation point was established in 2018, more than 200 golden pheasants have been spotted in the area, drawing numerous birdwatchers and photographers eager to observe and capture images of the birds.

The frequent appearance of these rare birds and their steadily growing population serve as strong indicators of the region's relentless efforts to improve ecological environment.
