The central parity rate of the Chinese currency renminbi, or the yuan, weakened 3 pips to 6.8657 against the U.S. dollar Monday, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.
In China's spot foreign exchange market, the yuan is allowed to rise or fall by 2 percent from the central parity rate each trading day.
The central parity rate of the yuan against the U.S. dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the opening of the interbank market each business day.
Chinese yuan weakens to 6.8657 against USD Monday
Lebanon's Public Health Emergency Operation Center reported on Sunday that Israeli strikes on Lebanon since fighting resumed on March 2 have killed 2,055 people and wounded 6,588 others.
Among the dead are 165 children, with another 644 children injured, the ministry said in a statement.
Over the past 24 hours, 35 were killed and 152 others wounded across Lebanon, it said.
Lebanon's National News Agency reported fierce clashes between Israeli troops and Hezbollah fighters in the southern town of Bint Jbeil on the same day. Later that evening, Hezbollah announced it had carried out new attacks on targets in northern Israel.
The Israeli army has carried out deadly airstrikes against Lebanon since Hezbollah launched a cross-border attack on March 2. This came after a joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran, which escalated regional tensions.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "the war continues" during a visit to southern Lebanon on Sunday, where Israeli ground forces invaded last month and are fighting Hezbollah.
In a video statement, Netanyahu described the Lebanese territory as a buffer zone, saying "the war continues, including inside the security zone in Lebanon".
Netanyahu said troops there had "thwarted the invasion threat, pushing back the danger of anti-tank fire and also dealing with rockets, but there is still work to be done".
Also on Sunday, Israeli tanks on two occasions rammed vehicles belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), though no one was injured.
UNIFIL said Israeli forces blocked roads leading to peacekeeping positions and used main battle tanks to collide with UN vehicles, seriously damaging one of them.
The European Union on Sunday strongly condemned Israel's recent strikes on Lebanon, calling for an immediate halt to the attacks and stressing that diplomacy remains the only viable path to resolving the crisis.
He urged all parties to fully comply with international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians, civilian facilities, UN peacekeepers, and humanitarian personnel.
