To Lam, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and president of Vietnam, arrived in Beijing on Tuesday for a state visit to China through Friday.

China is the first country To Lam visits following his recent election as Vietnamese president. Upon arrival in Beijing, To Lam took a high-speed train to north China's Xiong'an New Area, a development zone some 100 km away from Beijing.

During the visit, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold talks with Lam. Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning will hold separate meetings with him.

China and Vietnam are friendly socialist neighbors connected by mountains and rivers, sharing common ideals and beliefs and broad strategic interests.

In 2023, China and Vietnam agreed to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

In April 2025, General Secretary and President Xi paid a successful state visit to Vietnam, ushering in a new stage in building the China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

China hopes that through Lam's current visit, the two countries will carry forward the traditional friendship, continue to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, advance the building of an even higher level of community with a shared future that carries strategic significance, jointly promote the socialist cause in the world, while together maintaining regional and world peace, stability and development.
